Round Table Sessions
Partner Presentations
Title: Digital Thread for Additive Manufacturing
Primary Presenter: Mark Vitale [Senior Manager - Deloitte]
Date & Time: Jun 05, 2018 11:15 AM
Abstract:

AM has the potential to reduce the capital required to reach minimum efficient scale for production, lowering the barriers to distributed manufacturing. AM’s flexibility facilitates an increase in the variety of products produced, reducing the costs associated with product customization. Yet, the advanced capabilities of AM have been largely underutilized.

The digital thread is the enabling system that offers a scalable AM production capability. The digital thread is a single seamless strand of data that stretches from the initial design to the finished part and promises to address many of the challenges hindering AM’s universal deployment.

Title: Best Practices to Manage Risk through Governance
Primary Presenter: Dipen Parikh [Principal - Deloitte]
Secondary Presenter: Smaran Bhandary [Strategy and Operations Manager - Deloitte]
Additional Presenter: Asi Klein [Senior Manager - Deloitte]
Date & Time: Jun 06, 2018 11:15 AM
Abstract:

There is increasing competition for investment dollars to support business transformations, and the ever-increasing pressure to deliver projects with appropriate financial returns. Given the complexities of implementing today’s product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions, it is essential to manage risk via robust governance strategies and a cross-functional PMO. Today’s PLM deployments involve a broad range of services, ranging from process design, product configuration, legacy data migration, interfaces to other systems and finally, change management. Learn how you can apply these concepts in delivering effective risk management solutions to your company or client.

Title: Enterprise BOM Strategy
Primary Presenter: Smaran Bhandary [Strategy and Operations Manager - Deloitte]
Date & Time: Jun 06, 2018 02:00 PM
Abstract:

An enterprise-wide bill of material strategy is critical to ensure that product data is created and evolved in the most efficient manner possible, while promoting collaboration and the appropriate level of transparency critical to an effective product development process. A successful strategy will bring together the underlying business processes of BOM management for early-stage requirements gathering, concept formulation and its evolution into the Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM). This presentation will describe how to leverage Deloitte’s best practices in BOM management strategy and Siemens BOM management tools to drive efficiency across the value chain.

Title: Accelerating Product Data Analytics
Primary Presenter: Hitesh Tewari [Deloitte Consulting, LLP]
Date & Time: Jun 07, 2018 10:40 AM
Abstract:

Overviews the Deloitte Product Data Analyzer (D-PDA), which provides a strategic framework and advanced toolkit necessary to analyze and implement cutting-edge solutions that improve product data quality and data readiness. D-PDA can read several thousands of content documents in native format related to product data, recognize complex data patterns and convert them to parameterized structured data. The framework can analyze complex data structures, rationalize data attributes and develop intuitive analytics to support template harmonization, integrated data model and master data standardization. As a result, organizations can drive costs down, increase data traceability, integrate enterprise business systems and improve product quality.

Title: Changing the Hearts and Minds of Engineers
Primary Presenter: Dipen Parikh [Principal - Deloitte]
Secondary Presenter: Asi Klein [Senior Manager - Deloitte]
Date & Time: Jun 07, 2018 01:25 PM
Abstract:

One of the main strengths of Teamcenter is the ability to configure the application to an organization’s needs. However, research shows that the majority of PLM implementations fail due to ineffective organizational change management, which includes managing culture change and agreeing on leading practices. Motivating employees and moving them up the “adoption curve” is one of the most important elements of any major transformation project. Effective change adoption and sustainment can be achieved through; stakeholder alignment, communications, organizational structure and role changes, employee readiness, learning and knowledge transfer.

Title: Predictive Engineering Analytics Series
Primary Presenter: Anirud Varadraj [Deloitte Consulting]
Date & Time: Jun 05, 2018 10:15 AM
Abstract:

Many companies collect a wealth of data across functions and the value chain, but do not effectively transform it into actionable insights for their product development activities that drive significant value for on-going and future products. By leveraging advanced technologies, implementing a smart data model and adhering to agile innovation principles, engineering organizations can shift to making insight-driven design decisions. These capabilities will generate design insights from traditionally disparate activities across the lifecycle such as testing, simulation, maintenance and actual customer usage. These design insights can be used to improve design objectives, predict failure modes and better deliver the customer experience.

Title: Unleashing PLM Through Workforce Transition
Primary Presenter: Asi Klein [Senior Manager - Deloitte]
Secondary Presenter: Matthew Fox [Deloitte Consulting, LLP]
Date & Time: Jun 05, 2018 11:40 AM
Abstract:

One of the main strengths of Teamcenter is the ability to configure the application to an organization’s circumstances, thereby increasing the potential for significant efficiency/productivity gains. However, full realization of benefits and ROI from PLM depends on embedding critical behavior changes and skills among impacted employees. Forward-looking companies match the right people to the right jobs to promote work being performed as the system is designed. This case study illustrate leading practices for realizing the value of PLM by redefining employee roles to increase productivity, identifying required skill-sets for improved performance, removing redundancies in task execution across functions, and supporting employee transition into new roles with minimal business disruption.

Title: Define the Business Case to Gain Executive Support
Primary Presenter: Brian Meeker [Principal - Deloitte Consulting, LLP]
Date & Time: Jun 07, 2018 08:15 AM
Abstract:

Deloitte will present an approach for conducting a Teamcenter specific PLM diagnostic and deriving a PLM roadmap. A capability maturity model aligned with the Teamcenter modules is used to gauge the maturity of an organization’s PLM processes. Tools such as churn analysis, value-stream mapping, resource usage and improvement metrics are used to measure inefficiencies. A prioritized and sequenced deployment roadmap is then developed to improve PLM capability in critical areas via implementation within Teamcenter. The Teamcenter Value Map is used to develop the business case and visually represent how specific modules align with improvement actions and can lead to improved shareholder value.

Title: Next Generation, Micro Learning for PLM
Primary Presenter: Asi Klein [Senior Manager - Deloitte]
Secondary Presenter: Matthew Fox [Deloitte Consulting, LLP]
Date & Time: Jun 06, 2018 10:40 AM
Abstract:

PLM transformations result in complex changes to processes and technology that affect a multitude of functions and roles. Such transformations present a conundrum – how do you address the learning needs that result from the transformation, without excessively pulling on an organization already constrained by the transformation? We will present a scalable approach to microlearing optimized for the complexity of PLM transformations that helps organizations avoid the time, material, and resource costs of traditional classroom training while at the same time enabling rapid adjustments to evolving learning needs.
