Partner Presentations
Title: Case Studies of Global Virtual Engineering Environments
Primary Presenter: Nicholas Holian [Chief Technologist, Manufacturing, Auto, Hi-Tech and Energy - DXC Technology]
Date & Time: May 10, 2017 01:15 PM
Location: 109
Abstract:

Mobility and cloud for product development and engineering has been identified by IDC as one of top issues in main industries. It is important to understand the rapid changing technologies and capabilities (offerings) that exist and their integration into the larger world of PLM. For IT leadership, they can see the mega trends and ways to engage the business and provide innovation. For business leadership, they can see what mega trends others are looking at and seeing how they are addressing them, what discussions can they start with IT or depending on their organization structure what they can start themselves. It is important to understand the direction of these solutions as they address current and future business challenges. Many people are looking to increase awareness of capabilities and experience beyond just hardware and address these challenges with solutions. They are also looking for solution providers that have proven track record in many industries supporting engineering in relation to mobility, cloud and security and no longer wanting just piece meal offerings. These are challenging problems to solve and there is an increasing need for a trusted partner who can help customers increase business adoption, reduce time to value, lower risk and cost, all of which are focused on increasing business flexibility, product margin and share of market, while reducing time to market and enabling a global workforce.
Recent technologies from Hewlett Packard Enterprise and GPU providers have made huge advancements in the creation and access a converged modern instance of an engineering environment. This can be done with a technology called engineering Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (eVDI). One of the business values of eVDI is to enabling mobility for internal workforce as well as provide options for mobility/collaboration with contractor and partners without having to send them the actual data files. We are also seeing increase attention from many companies around trying to increase employee satisfaction, retention and recruiting by offering options for work environment without increasing risk to intellectual property. Finally graphic desktops resource are requiring increase flexibility to match changing business needs and eVDI allows for you to meet those variable needs.

Title: MVA – A strategic plan for your manufacturing transformation
Primary Presenter: Chris Chapin [Consultant - DXC Technology]
Date & Time: May 11, 2017 02:15 PM
Location: 109
Abstract:

What is it?  An advisory approach to defining and quantifying the business case for your transformation in a way that also establishes a framework to make fact-based decisions for selecting key manufacturing solutions, making architectural decisions, and prioritizing implementation across your enterprise.  DXC’s Manufacturing Value Assessment enables you to right-size transformation for your budget and culture while maximizing value and speeding its realization.

A solid business case.  Opportunities for manufacturing business improvements are identified, and corresponding benefits are quantified to create a solid business case to justify your transformation program.  These improvement opportunities are then linked to the MES/MOM functionality required to enable them.

Fact-based decisions.  The business case and enabling functionality matrix is then used to drive the selection of a solution platform and modules using a fact-based approach.  This same fact-based approach can then be applied to prioritized the deployment of functional capabilities as well as the order of deployment to various plants in your manufacturing enterprise.  This fact-based approach enables you to maximize the amount of value derived from your transformation program and to speed its realization.

Everyone loves a winner.  This fact-based approach eliminates “gut feel” decision making and creates a powerful environment of success in which plant managers see real improvements to their operations that appears on their bottom line.  Instead of resisting deployments, plant managers will be jostling for position to be next in line.
