Round Table Sessions
Partner Presentations
Title: Validating NX Modeling, Assembly and Drafting Best Practices
Primary Presenter: Ric Hotchkiss [Principal Methodology Engineer - Design Automation Associates, Inc.]
Date & Time: Jun 07, 2018 03:00 PM
Abstract:

CheckMate is a powerful tool for checking NX model quality, and validating conditions such as layers, drafting standards, modeling practices and reference sets. There is a long list of out-of-the-box checks, which can be a bit overwhelming. Check-Mate can be used effectively if configured and implemented correctly. Topics to be presented include:

  • What is CheckMate and why should I use it
  • How to implement CheckMate so that users will accept it
  • How to configure CheckMate to increase speed and reduce confusion
  • How to set up CheckMate as a one click process using Master Profile

Title: Take Advantage of NX Automation Tools to Increase User Productivity
Primary Presenter: Ric Hotchkiss [Principal Methodology Engineer - Design Automation Associates, Inc.]
Date & Time: Jun 05, 2018 02:00 PM
Abstract:

NX is an extremely powerful CAX tool. It can be enhanced by writing custom code to automate repeated or complex tasks. This presentation will introduce the automation tools available in NX and why you might want to use them. The following topics will be discussed:

  • What is automation in NX
  • Why would you want to automate
  • Automation options
  • Basic modeling automation (expressions, part families)
  • Journals
  • SNAP
  • Product Template Studio (PTS)
  • NX Open
  • Knowledge Fusion (KF)

Title: How to Develop a Block Style Dialog User Interface for NX Open Applications
Primary Presenter: Ric Hotchkiss [Principal Methodology Engineer - Design Automation Associates, Inc.]
Date & Time: Jun 04, 2018 10:15 AM
Abstract:

It is common for NX Open applications to require some user interaction in order to obtain the required inputs. NX enables you to create block style dialogs that look and behave just like dialogs in standard NX commands. This presentation will focus on how to create and manage the block style dialogs in NX Open. Many topics will be covered, including creating the dialog using the Block UI Styler application, adding code to the template callbacks to manage dialog initialization, and updating and modifying a previously created dialog.

Title: How to Run Check-Mate and Evaluate Results
Primary Presenter: Ric Hotchkiss [Principal Methodology Engineer - Design Automation Associates, Inc.]
Date & Time: Jun 06, 2018 01:25 PM
Abstract:

Check-Mate is a powerful tool for checking NX model quality, validating conditions such as layers, drafting standards, modeling practices and reference sets. The list of out-of-the-box checks is significant and can be a bit overwhelming.

The training will include the following:

  • Detailed information about the various Check-Mate dialog options and recommended settings
  • Selecting Checkers and Profiles
  • Finding detailed descriptions of the Checkers and Profiles
  • Evaluating the Check-Mate results
  • Explanation of the HD3D tags
  • Finding detailed explanations of the issues found
  • Finding the offending objects
  • Healing
  • Fixing the issues
  • Setting up the Check-Mate environment to simplify the process of running Check-Mate

Title: Efficient NX/Open Development Using Visual Studio
Primary Presenter: Ric Hotchkiss [Principal Methodology Engineer - Design Automation Associates, Inc.]
Date & Time: Jun 05, 2018 11:40 AM
Abstract:

During this presentation, attendees gain an understanding of the Visual Studio development environment and learn ways to use Visual Studio to speed up the development process and also develop NX/Open applications. The main focus is on making the development process more efficient.

The following topics will be covered:

  • Setting up and re-using a project template
  • Using Intellisense
  • Using the object browser to find function, class and method documentation
  • Signing the resulting DLLs
  • Using post-build events to streamline development
  • Debugging
