Primary Presenter Biography: As IBM Distinguished Engineer and STG Industrial Sector CTO, Dave Coutts is the thought leader matching the strengths and leadership capabilities of the STG portfolio to the workload and operational requirements of Industrial Sector solutions. This includes private and public cloud deployments with a focus on Engineering Solutions for Cloud. Dave has seven years of experience in Industrial Sector solutions and twenty-six years of experience in IBM server systems development, product development transformation, and technical strategy. Dave is also a member of the IBM Academy of Technology and holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University.

Abstract:  In today’s fast paced, design anywhere, build anywhere environment,
companies developing products and services need speed, agility, control and
visibility across the design ecosystem and life cycle to meet
time-to-market requirements and maximize profitability. Deployment of
compute and storage resources through a cloud will be the key to success
over the next decade. IBM Engineering Solutions provides product and
service companies with a foundation to begin setting up and managing
efficient and secure workload optimized cloud capabilities to streamline
engineering processes, reduce costs and design cycle times, and collaborate
globally. In this session we will present a generalized PLM operational
model that includes remote 2D/3D access, and describe ways in which
Engineering Transformation and Smarter Computing infrastructure elements
can be applied to enable more innovative and efficient product and service
development with shared, centralized infrastructure which supports
collaboration among a global ecosystem of designers, partners, and
suppliers. We will use our internal IBM design environment as an example of
value and IBM industry solution centers to showcase results achieved.
