Abstract:  One of the most important assumptions general managers make in new consumer product business cases is gross margin. After all, the general manager is relying on that gross margin to create future positive cash flows for the business. If the business' new product development team can reliably deliver new products at their cost target, then the business is well on its way to long-term success.

How do you create a process to deliver on target cost more reliably? The first step is to strengthen assumptions behind cost targets early in a project and then to help project teams deliver the final design at the planned unit cost with timely feedback. In this round table, we will be discussing the design of system architectures which integrate PLM, ERP, and cost engineering tools to support target setting and cost management processes.

John benefits from product strategy, program management, and product portfolio management experience, and is responsible for the Mercury PLM practice. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering from the US Naval Academy and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
