Abstract:  Formula 1 racing pushes the limits of mechanical and human possibilities, with cars heavily dependent on the use of advanced materials. For the Lotus F1 team, optimizing performance is a composites engineering balancing act supported by a large set of engineering tools and processes. This presentation is a case study that will discuss how the Lotus F1 team meets the demands of a pressure-filled design cycle with the help of the Fibersim™ portfolio of software to make the ‘perfect’ car stiffer, lighter and faster year after year.
