PLM World Board Meeting - Orlando, FL - June 15-16, 2007

  • Your PLM World Board of Directors recently met in Orlando, FL for a quarterly board meeting. Newly elected members Mike Marston, Jeff Kuberka, Tom Both, and Jim Vosler were in attendance adding fresh faces and new ideas to the board. Listed below are the items discussed during the 2 day meeting.

  • John Heidorn and Jon Jarrett attended the 2007 Siemens Automation Summit User Conference held June 13-15, 2007. For further information regarding this user conference click here.

  • Each year conference attendees are asked to complete a survey giving their opinions and ideas on different aspects of the annual conference. The results of the survey are invaluable information used by PLM World to improve future conferences. Beth Ewing, PLM World Business Director gave a presentation outlining the results of the 2007 survey.

    Some highlights from the presentation:

    • 979 conference surveys were completed by attendees

    • 73% indicated they plan to attend future conferences

    • 93% indicated they were happy with the pre-conference communication regarding registration

    • 53% attended training sessions

    • 92% felt they got what they expected from their conference experience

    • 59% would prefer to have the conference scaled back to 4 days (ie. Mon.-Thurs.)

We use this data to help shape our conference for the future based on our attendees feedback. Thank you to everyone who completed a conference survey!

  • If you attended the 2007 conference, you may have noticed a table set up in the foyer of the convention center labeled "Help us improve your conference". Throughout the week we invited attendees to sit and speak with us regarding their experience at the conference. After evaluating the information gathered, some common themes were found:

    • More UGS interaction — Some found it difficult to find a UGS representative to speak with.

    • PLM World website — What does it offer? Difficult to navigate

    • More RUG involvement

    Actions to be taken:

    • Jon Heidorn and Joe Policani, both UGS Liaisons, suggested having a UGS discussion/help room designated at the 2008 conference staffed with UGS employees for attendees to have 1-on-1 discussions in an uninterrupted setting.

    • Jim Vosler, Public Relations board member plans to "revamp" the PLM World website to make it more user friendly with added value for PLM World members.

    • Jeff Kuberka, RUG Liaison, plans to "kick start" more RUG groups around the country, and also evaluate each RUG webpage on the PLM World website to keep them updated with current events.

  • The board took a break from their meeting to take a guided tour of the 2008 conference location, The Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, FL.

With 400,000 sq. feet of total meeting space, the Gaylord Palms has the most meeting space of any hotel in the state of Florida. The resort area is built around a 4.5-acre glass-covered atrium, divided into four areas, each with their own activities and guest rooms.
