Mid Atlantic RUG
The Mid Atlantic Regional Users Group had a great turnout today at the National Electronics Museum in Linthicum, MD. Rafi Krigman informed me that there has not been an active users group in this area in many years; he has successfully organized this meeting with a promising agenda. The meeting started with a welcome from the Director of engineering tools from Northrop Grumman, Bruce Mayer, followed by a few words from Mark Corado from Siemens PLM Software, and some information about PLM World from Richard Meagher and myself.
General Sessions started with John Bayless from Mercury Marine. After his presentation attendees got involved asking many questions about the presentation and Mercury PLM Services products. Most attendees stayed for this presentation while a few attended the first training session.
Maya Cariyappa then presented a Teamcenter Overview “What’s New in 9.0”. She presented a lot of good information including the release dates for Teamcenter Unified: 9.1 (Feb 29, 2012) and 10 (September 20, 2012). Something I found particularly interesting was the idea of Teamcenter Mobility where you can use the software onsite on your iPad.
After a short break Maya continued with best practices for Teamcenter Visualization and Document Management. What’s New in NX 7.5 Drafting was a popular topic with about half the users attending the hands on training.
The notorious John Baker presentation had a large turnout as expected. During the catered lunch break I talked to a user attendee who had some comments on today’s events so far “the meeting has been great, a little overwhelming because the presentations are short, but it makes you really want to get the presenter’s name and find out more information. The training sessions have been very helpful”.
