Seven Minutes of Victory for our PLM World Colleagues at NASA

Congratulations to NASA on the successful landing of Curiosity!

Congratulations to the team at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory for the successful landing of the latest Mars Rover - Curiosity. Seven minutes of terror became seven minutes of victory as quoted in one news source when the successful landing of the rover was confirmed from grainy images showing the rover's shadow on the martian surface.

Moments before the spacecraft delivered the rover to the surface, a satellite captured the spacecraft with its parachute deployed.

Unlike previous missions where the rovers would land inside an inflated capsule and bounce until rest, this mission used a very risky complex manuever consisting of hovering and suspending the rover until it made contact to the surface.

The successful landing and the delivery of the rover was all made possible using Siemens PLM software to design and develop the spacecraf using advanced design, visulations and simulation capability of NX CAD. NX CAE, NX CAM and Teamcenter.

We at PLM World are proud to be a part of this historic event and wish continued success to our fellow PLM World members working on the NASA team, as contractors and suppliers using Siemens PLM software.!
