The Chicago/Wisconsin RUG Conference was held Thursday, October 15th, 2014, at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Gurnee, IL. There were 145 attendees this year.
Breakfast was served at 7am; scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, pastries, coffee, juice, etc. It was excellent.
The keynote was given by PLM World Board Member Don Haupt. He talked about the evolution of PLM at Caterpillar where he has worked for over 30 years.
There were several concurrent sessions spread across several rooms, five hands-on NX training classes, and four of roundtable sessions all packed into a single day. A mixture of user and Siemens PLM sessions provided plenty of opportunities to acquire new knowledge and skills.
From the Siemens PLM side, John Baker, the 'NX Evangelist', held three sessions on NX while Jamie Goggin, a GTAC manager, talked about GTAC support. Several other SPLM employees gave presentations about various Teamcenter, NX CAD, and NX CAM topics.
From the user side, Fermilab dominated with four of its employees giving presentations about NX and Teamcenter. Thank you, Fermilab!
Lunch was comprised of salad, a creative cherry tomato based concoction, lasagna, capellini alfredo pasta, grilled chicken breast, and dessert. It was delicious.
It was a long busy day, but I still found time to meet up with many people I know and also met a number of new people this year as well. I'm looking forward to next year.
