Can’t See, can’t Reach, can’t Fit! Considering the Human at Every Stage

Track: NX CAM and Tecnomatix User Connection

Session Number: 170301
Date: Mon, May 8th, 2017
Time: 2:15 PM - 3:00 PM
Room: 211

Description:

Enhancing user experience is at the forefront of today’s product design. Questions about safety, accessibility, reachability, comfort and more need to be considered. Within the digital design environment, concept proposals can be evaluated with virtual humans to uncover usability shortfalls. In production planning, the focus shifts to assembly challenges, where questions about process planning, workstation layout, worker efficiency, and injury risk arise – all with potential to impact product quality. Considering collaborative robots? How do you assess safety concerns? These challenges can all be digitally explored early in the planning phase, when the cost burden to change is still minimal Technology advancements in the human simulation space will be discussed using case examples to highlight the ease and value of incorporating human simulation into your workflow. Highlights include: - The use of Jack for NX for critical hand clearance and space claim evaluations - Creating a simulation of tasks and evaluating the physical demands - Analyzing a cobot deployment scenario - Leveraging motion capture and VR devices as an alternative input approach to study human behaviors, timing and injury risk.
