Optimizing Teamcenter Workflow Data Quality

Track: Teamcenter User Connection

Session Number: 170111
Date: Wed, May 10th, 2017
Time: 1:30 PM - 2:15 PM
Room: 206

Description:

Change processes, release processes, transfer to ERP systems and many other processes in the company are standardized and automated with Teamcenter Workflows. In order to work flawless, these workflows need an adequate data quality.
Due to missing and/or corrupt data workflow abortions can arise. The workflow can not be reset by the user and is no longer accessible for him. Deleting, continuing or resetting the workflow can be done only by the administrator. The consequences are time-consuming, repetivie work steps for the user and unnecessary corrective actions for the Teamcenter administrators. By an early identification of data and consistency errors in the product development process - even before workflow starts - an improved data quality can be achieved and extensive corrective actions can be avoided.
This presentation shows how Henny Penny is using the Teamcenter add-on BCT CheckIt to ensure that all data is complete and the workflow can run through steady. Potential error cases can be easily identified and corrected.
The Teamcenter user is enabled to check even complex assembly structures recursively on plausibility and integrity regarding attributes, characteristics, documents, etc without having to know the Teamcenter data model in detail.

Session Type: Demonstration/Tips/Tricks

Related Industry: All Industries
Learning Objectives: 1. Learn how to build simple rules to avoid workflow failures
2. Learn how to check for missing attributes or invalid attribute values
3. Learn how to check for missing datasets
4. Learn how to determine if an assembly and its structure are checked out
Applicable Software: NX for Design (CAD), NX for Manufacturing, Teamcenter PLM Process Execution (Change/Program/Project/Portfolio, Teamcenter PLM Usability (Active Workspace)
Pre-requisites: This session would benefit all levels of Teamcenter and NX users. All attendees should understand basic Teamcenter workflows and have experience understanding failure modes within workflows.
