No More Hiding: Proper Use of Layers and Reference Sets

Track: NX Product Engineering User Connection

Session Number: 170063
Date: Thu, May 11th, 2017
Time: 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM
Room: 141

Description:

The hide command is often used as a catch-all for busy users who want to "clean up" parts or drawings.  Unfortunately, that command doesn't do all you think it does; and it does some things you wish it didn't.

In this demonstration, we'll explore the limitations of the hide command and the implications of using it improperly.  We'll also learn the tools and techniques NX has available to get users back on the right path.  Reference Sets and Layers, if you know how to use them, were designed for these situations and are among the most powerful tools at your disposal.

Session Type: Demonstration/Tips/Tricks

Related Industry: All Industries
Learning Objectives: Attendees will learn what hide really does and doesn't do. They will also gain an appreciation and knowledge of reference sets and their proper use. They'll find out how layers can make their jobs easier while avoiding the problems of hiding.
Applicable Software: CAD Integrations (NX, CATIA, Solidworks, Creo, AutoCAD, Inventor, etc), NX for Design (CAD), Teamcenter System Engineering
Pre-requisites: All attendees should have a working knowledge of day-to-day NX part modeling operations and an understanding of NX assemblies.
