Description:

The “3 Views to 3D” project will leverage laser scanning and 3D model development processes and tools to create a digital twin that will replace traditional ship check, maintenance, and modernization activities using 2D drawings. Today’s ship check activities require costly pre-availability visits by shipyard personnel to photograph, sketch, and measure those spaces to be upgraded and modernized.

At its end state, “3 Views to 3D” will form the digital 3D input to the In-Service ship configuration, including a more modern way to manage legacy documents in a PLM tool. The “3 Views to 3D” project will document the 2D to 3D processes for maintenance and modernization activities during ship overhauls based on specific use cases and return on investment compared to 2D drawing processes.
