Description:

Orbital ATK implemented to use of a new software call Design for Manufacturing or DFM Pro. During the pilot program many benefits were realized and being in the early stages of design, we were able to improve the design and manufacturability by a simple quick check with this software. Also some of our released designs were ran through the software and found if we had this tool during the design of this hardware we would have saved several revisions.

The implementation is just beginning, by PLM World we will have had 4 – 6 months of use and will be able to share some of the following:

  • Cost savings and ROI
  • Implementation successes
  • How easy the use of and configuration is on the software
  • Examples of design improvements

Lessons learned from this project are applicable to a wide variety of products and industries.  Benefits from a successful implementation include reduced design costs, faster time to market, less design iterations and greatly improved product quality.
