Consumer electronics products need to fulfill many environmental and mechanical requirements, robust drop performance being one of them. This paper reviews different solution techniques available in NX Advanced Simulation to determine the structural response of a product subjected to an impact load resulting from a drop test. Specifically, these solution techniques include approximating response from a static solution, Response Simulation, Advanced Nonlinear Implicit Transient Analysis and Advanced Nonlinear Explicit Transient Analysis. Analysis workflow and results comparisons will be discussed for a sample test case utilizing these different approaches.
