Efficient Modification of Mesh-Centric Finite Element Models with Femap
Track: Simcenter User Connection
In some engineering environments, the solver input file(s) for a particular model may be the only format available, should a model need to be revisited. When this is the case, there is often no geometry available to allow the analyst to easily refine or modify portions of the model. This session discusses the various tools available for modification of existing elements, creation of geometry from existing mesh, and re-association of existing mesh to existing geometry to aid in this process. Key topics of this session include: • Direct Modification of the existing Mesh using various splitting and refinement tools. • Creation of Geometry from existing Mesh when changes to overall topology of the model are necessary, such as addition/removal of holes, slots, cutouts, etc. • Ability to re-associate existing Mesh to existing geometry or new geometry to allow use of geometry-based meshing tools for model modification. • Benefits of using FEMAP when presented with this challenge faced by many analysts.
