Integrated toolchain for Model Driven Controls development (25 min)

The Functional Performance Engineering of mechatronic systems focuses in the early design stage on developing the mechanical hardware together with the sophisticated control algorithms in order to achieve the product performance targets. From a tools standpoint, capabilities such as MIL, co-simulation of controls and physical plant models are of primary importance for the controls developer, as they allow for the development process to run smoothly through several iterations of hardware and controls towards target achievement. The subsequent steps of production controls development that take these sophisticated algorithms to production code, imply several steps where many more versions of the controller are created, that need to be validated for meeting the original product performance targets. In this session we discuss the total workflow that integrates technologies (for code generation, co-simulation, optimization) with process governance and model management in order to guarantee traceability and to maximize re-use of knowledge and models across different development projects and programs.
