For any manufacturing process improvement methodology to be effective across an organization, it is important that the methodology is seamlessly integrated in the daily workflow for the users. The improvements implemented need to be traceable and associative to the original product and compliant with the change management process of an organization. With this in mind, Third Wave Systems has developed an interface for NX CAM to streamline the process of physics-based toolpath optimization.

Using its technology, Third Wave Systems has helped organizations accelerate the deployment of cycle time savings across a number of plants worldwide. The updated interface for Production Module was developed with one particular Aerospace OEM in mind, who worked closely with TWS during the process. When the software was rolled out on the shop floor, the OEM achieved more than 20% in machine time savings on their turning processes and maintained their tool life. The enhanced NX interface for Production Module has also saved users more than 25% for milling processes for hard-to-machine materials. Third Wave Systems’ presentation will highlight the new enhancements to the software as well as the deployment strategy, rollout considerations and time savings for the mentioned aerospace engine OEM.
