PLM World Hosted Roundtable Discussions Virtual Roundtable’s Resounding Success – many users in the past couple weeks participated in two virtual roundtables focusing on Teamcenter Security and Teamcenter Administration. Users were educated in current and future functionality within the Teamcenter products and then spent time focusing on existing and needed gaps in the software. Siemens PLM development personnel were present during the discussion with listening ears. They desire to hear the voice of their customers. Additional roundtables will be scheduled throughout the year and of course at the annual event. Please email me (past_chair@plmworld.org) if you have any suggestions for other roundtable topics or would like to be the host of a roundtable discussion. For more information please refer to the website and discussion boards here. In 2010, we decided to try something new and organize some roundtable discussions for our annual conference in Dallas. This was in an effort to give our attendees yet another way to network, and talk about topics they were interested in. Turns out they were a huge success, so we decided to try doing some in Jaunary 2011 via teleconference. Again, they were a huge success. So we now are continuing with both formats to keep giving our members what they are looking for. Take a look at some of the comments received from participants: "Nice Roundtable today, Jon. Thanks for organising. We’ve been working on improving large assy functionality and performance for years, and are getting frustrated with our lack of significant success. I think we learned a few things today, and we will be looking into them. It was eye opening to see that our large assemblies aren’t really that large, and I am hopeful that we can make some drastic improvements." "Even though we thought that we were ahead of the pack with large modeling and drafting, there were still some specific ideas discussed that we hadn’t considered. It was a great wealth of knowledge!" "Very encouraging to hear other that other customers have similar issues as us. It really gives us a chance to tell Siemens about our needs in a combined voice." Back by popular demand are user-sponsored, and user-led virtual roundtables! These roundtables provide an opportunity to learn about the current software capabilities, identify common issues with other users, with a goal for future software enhancements and to share best practices, tips and techniques for how others are using the software today.
Fall 2011 Roundtables Teamcenter Administration: Advanced Topics in BMIDE The focus of this group is to improve the life of a System Administrator by sharing best practices and providing valuable end user input to Siemens for future product enhancement. These tools include (but are not limited to):
The planned topic for the November telecon is going to cover issues with BMIDE deployments, some known scenarios that cause deploys to fail and plans that Siemens has to fix these issues in the near term. We will be releasing a survey shortly regarding this Roundtable. This survey will help us gather input to help us target the items YOU feel are important. Interested parties must first fill out the survey in order to receive call details. Teamcenter Security Security in today's Teamcenter environments is more important than ever. Teamcenter data is becoming more diversified and being shared both internal to corporate networks, as well as being extended beyond our firewalls. Sites are becoming more dependent on seamless sharing of data, and auditors are now more interested in who has access to data, IP data protection, and compliance with export controls. Join this discussion, and share your experience as well as learn from others. The format of this session will be one hour of information/education and one hour of open discussion on a particular topic. Our agenda items for the fall are:
