Aaron Elliott Dresser-Rand

What makes me or the person I am nominating qualified for this position?

Currently, I lead a team responsible for managing, developing, implementing, standardizing, and maintaining CAx centric design automation programs, applications and processes for all D-R product lines. I am involved in KBE application development from concept to realization. Additionally, I, only recently (~1 month prior to the PLM World conference), accepted the programming tools SIG Chair position and I would like the opportunity to fulfill the role.

Why I want to run for this position or see the person I am nominating run for this position.

I have an invested interest in developing the Programming Tools/KBE community to strengthen my own KBE team's capabilities. In addition, I, truly, enjoy this is area of engineering and development.

What would plan to accomplish or implement for improvement if elected to this position?

I plan to promote more user and Siemens development involvement, collectively, at group meetings and conferences. I am lining up several key individuals (Siemens and user) to offer/present material at future SIG meetings. I believe that a mix of prepared presentations as well as round table discussions will keep a broader group coming to the online meetings. I have found that SIG meeting interest increases when the community feels there will be something to take away (i.e. presentations, article, direct answers, etc).

Is there anything else about yourself or the person you are nominating that you would like us to know?

In any event, I look forward to taking an active role in this and several other PLM World communities.

Special Interest Group NX Community: Programming Tools ( KF, UG Open & I-DEAS Open)
Sean Patrick Sullivan Design Automation Associates, Inc.

What makes me or the person I am nominating qualified for this position?

15 years extensive CAD programming experience including NX, NX Open, KF, LISP. etc... Director of Applications Consulting for DAA (12 years) Member of KF original language development team in mid-1990's Co-Founder of DAA Specified, designed, architected and implemented over 50 KBE systems over 15+ years. Understands ALL aspects of programming and related subjects. Highly respected by the NX Programming community.

Why I want to run for this position or see the person I am nominating run for this position.

Can provide guidance and leadership to the SIG due to his credibility, current & legacy knowledge.

What would plan to accomplish or implement for improvement if elected to this position?

The Programming SIG could best be improved by drawing the interest of new members, with fresh ideas. Younger members are also greatly needed. I believe there is a perception that implementing NX programming is a difficult task left to programmers. This perception could best be changed by the implementation of introductory training, designed to show users how they can actually create customizations right away. Sean has both designed and delivered training in NX Open, Knowledge Fusion and Check-Mate and would be agreeable to conducting 3 hour getting started courses, at PLM World, for any and all of the languages.

Is there anything else about yourself or the person you are nominating that you would like us to know?

Sean has a strong work ethic and a great amount of energy. He's also highly organized, regimented and reliable. When he establishes a routine it happens like "clock work". He'll devote the time necessary to make this a success.

Special Interest Group NX Community: Simulation
Bill Henninger Lockheed Martin Space Systems

What makes me or the person I am nominating qualified for this position?

Bill Henninger is a Lead Engineer, Mechanical Applications, with the Space Systems Company of Lockheed Martin Corporation. He has been in the industry for over 30 years, specializing in dynamic finite element analysis and related software development. Bill leads the Engineering Tools MCAE Team that focuses on advancing the application of I-deas and Nastran for Design and Analysis activities and on defining the requirements for an advanced Engineering computing infrastructure. Bill also supports Training Activities for I-deas and NX Nastran. He holds a bachelor degree in civil engineering structures from IIT and has done extensive graduate work at the University of California at Los Angeles and Santa Cruz. Bill's current assignment is Program Manager for the Linux Clusters Program for the Space Systems Company that will support multiple discipline applications including: stress, dynamic, thermal, fluids, electrical, and others.

Why I want to run for this position or see the person I am nominating run for this position.

Simulation is a critical element in development of successful, optimized designs and, without the proper tools, this task becomes difficult even for the best Analysis Engineers. While great strides have been made over the last several years, the evolutionary development of MCAE applications requires a direct communication between the software development team and the user community. I believe that it is one of the main functions of the SIG to deliver this communication from users to the developers -- a job that I take seriously and enjoy very much. Over the two to three years, many Analysis Engineers will be migrating from I-deas to NX and the NX Simulation SIG's role will never be more important than it is during this period. It is the SIG's job to ensure that for every two steps that are taken forward in product functionality that no steps are taken backward in the functionality we have today.

What would plan to accomplish or implement for improvement if elected to this position?

NX Simulation Product Review -- Focus on the Analysis Engineer Over the past year, the NX Simulation SIG has been interacting with the UGS Development Team by reviewing NX and related whole-product elements such as training and interaction with the user community. It is my intent to step up the SIG's level of interaction by increasing out testing activities to ensure that the Simulation modules deliver the product the user community needs -- not only today, but in the future. NX Simulation Product Review -- Focus on the Design Engineer There is an increasing need for Design Engineer's to have an easy-to-use and effective analysis tool to aid their goal of creating better designs. The NX product provides this capability in a framework that leverages existing core modules but in a manner more conducive to a designer's work flow. Starting at this year's Conference the NX Simulation SIG will add a Design Engineer to our Existing Team to make sure that we are carrying the correct message forward to the development team during our interactions.

Special Interest Group Tecnomatix Community
Alan Baumgartner Ford Motor Company

What makes me or the person I am nominating qualified for this position?

I've been working with Tecnomatix products since 1989 (starting with Robcad).  I've remained active in the area for the last 23 years, having contributed to several cross industry efforts such as Realistic Robot Simulation (RRS), Robot Calibration technologies, Virtual Manufacturing simulation, and most recently the Enterprise Bill of Process project.  I've presented work at several industry forums, such as PLM World, Digital Manufacturing Symposium, ARC Industry Forum, and the American Manufacturing Summit, etc.  I'm a recognized subject matter expert with Ford, and am in an organization/position that promotes innovation and outside collaboration.

Why I want to run for this position or see the person I am nominating run for this position.

I'd like to see the manufacturing technologies become more active, and in general a larger slice of the Siemens' pie at events like PLM connection.  Manufacturing in general, and Manufacturing Engineering are essential elements to get right in order to compete in the global market place.  I feel the manufacturing representation could be improved at such events, and despite the broad spectrum of manufacturing industry types, a common voice could be developed for many issues.  I think I can help on at least these two accounts.

What would plan to accomplish or implement for improvement if elected to this position?

I'd like to get the manufacturing team together more often, outside of the big conferences and better prepare an industry message.  It would be nice if the conferences were places were the team could meet face to face, but working groups and actions could be developed outside of the meets via audio/screen sharing technologies.  I'd like to see a vibrant community with active dialog moving the technologies forward.

Is there anything else about yourself or the person you are nominating that you would like us to know?

I'm available and willing to discuss any topic at greater length via e-mail (abaumgar@ford.com) or phone cell: (248) 752-3083.
