Keynote Speaker Summaries

Speaker 1.pngDan Nicholson has had the position of Executive Director for Global Powertrain Embedded Controls at GM since April, 2011. He is responsible for running the day-to-day operations of the global engineering team that calibrates all the GM powertrains, ensuring they provide customer-pleasing drive quality and comply with tailpipe emissions standards and on-board diagnostics. Previously, Mr. Nicholson was the Vice President of Global Quality and the head of Powertrain Product Engineering Europe. He began his career with GM as a co-op student in the Buick Motor Division in 1982. With his extensive background in product engineering, he progressed through a series of leadership positions, including Engineering Group Manager, Director of Controller Integration, and Director of Engine Development, Calibration and Validation. In 2004, he was named Chief Engineer and Program Manager for V8 Engines and became responsible for the Corvette Z06’s LS7 engine and implementing active fuel management technology for small block engines. Mr. Nicholson has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University), a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University, and an MBA from Stanford University.

Eric Sterling serves as Senior Vice President of Global Marketing at Siemens Product Lifecycle Management Software Inc. Mr. Sterling served as vice president of enterprise portfolio marketing where he led global strategic and tactical marketing activities for Siemens Product Lifecycle Management Software Inc., enterprise portfolio, which includes NX, Teamcenter and Tecnomatix software. Prior to his enterprise portfolio role, Mr. Sterling served as vice president of automotive ... industry marketing and was responsible for driving Siemens PLM Software's automotive marketing vision and strategies. He was also involved with key industry organizations, providing thought leadership on new emerging issues faced by automotive OEMs and Suppliers. Before joining Siemens PLM Software, Mr. Sterling served as vice president of North American sales and services for Engineering Animation Incorporated (EAI).

 

 

Speaker 3.pngJim Rusk - Siemens PLM Software

Jim Rusk is senior vice president of Product Engineering Software, for Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division. He and his team are responsible for developing solutions, principally on the NX platform, to deliver world class software for design, simulation, and systems engineering. Rusk has been with Siemens PLM Software since 1988, holding numerous positions in product development, product marketing, product management, technical support and sales. Immediately prior to his current appointment, Jim led the Digital Simulation Solutions group and was responsible for all aspects of the company’s simulation business. Jim has been in the engineering software business for more than 25 years and received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering Mechanics from The University of Cincinnati in 1986. He is currently based in Siemens PLM Software’s Milford, Ohio office.
